ABOUT US

HOME SCIENCE ASSOCIATION OF INDIA

The Home Science Association of India (HSAI) was established in 1950 with its headquarters in The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. Since then the association has grown in stature and has established several state branches with more than 2500 members. The major aim of the association is to promote the welfare of the family to raise the technical competence and standards of the profession in the field of Home Science and allied subjects. It explores the plausibility of the establishment of the perfections in the social orders starting from home life to the community level. The HSAI has been at the forefront of this advocacy and documents how to improve lives and livelihoods while not sacrificing the sustainability of the environment. It has showcased several actions that promote learning from diverse regional variations; promote fundamental educational values; embed sustainable development considerations in research and in the curriculum; adopt considerations of sustainability in leadership practices and underline social responsibility in outreach at home and in their state partnerships.

In KERALA

HOME SCIENCE EDUCATION

Home Science Education started in Kerala during the mid of 1950’ s. The HH Maharaja’s Govt College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam, HHMSPB NSS College for Women, Neeramankara under University of Kerala and CMS College Kottayam and St Teresa ’ s College, Ernakulam under Mahatma Gandhi University were the pioneers in bringing Home Science courses to the State. Thereafter, it was spread across the State under 4 different universities along with State Agricultural University that offer courses from Diploma to Research degrees. There are around 16 colleges that offer courses in Home Science with around 60 permanent faculty members from various specialisations in Home Science. About 60 research scholars are doing research across the state on various issues in the discipline. Most of the CBSE schools also offer Home Science at school levels along with plus two education in both the State and CBSE sectors.

Scope and Concept

34th Biennial Conference

The 34th Biennial Conference on Innovation and Incubation Opportunities through Home Science for Self reliant India aims to bring together leading academicians, scholars and young minds to engage and share their experiences and research outcomes on all aspects of Home Science. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, concerns and practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the verticals of Home Science. The conference would serve as a platform for Home Scientists, Research Scholars, students, and other young minds to benefit from the interactions with high professionals working in different areas of Home Science.

Our economy is witnessing one of its most vibrant phases with the ushering of new arenas of self-employment. Home Science has evolved to be an ocean of opportunities for entrepreneurs that helps them to be the boss of their job. The horizons are ever widening in Home Science with the application of technology and innovations brought in with it. The innovative social manifestations of the discipline that encompasses the goals of sustainable development and that of abridging gender gap through entrepreneurship development. The 34th biennial conference of HSAI endeavors to foreground the myriad possibilities of Home Science disciple identifying self-employment opportunities through innovations and the perks it present to the innovative minds of the nation. The conference envisions to explore the aforementioned ocean of opportunities by focusing on digital approaches to the discipline, along with its sustainable angle and its contribution towards empowering millions. Five sub themes thus identified explores the research, innovation and incubation opportunities in Home Science and are common to all domains irrespective of specialization. Participants are requested to identify their sub theme and follow the guidelines for paper submission, and do not restrict/ forward papers merely based on their area of specialization or domain. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

Oral and Poster presentations on original research work with standardized research designs are invited from Scientists/ Academicians/ Researchers/ Students on areas related to different branches of Home Science under different sub-themes. The areas are Digital Approaches, Social/Food Innovations, Entrepreneurship Development, Sustainable Development & Gender and Development. For a student / PhD scholar, the first author should be the student and the supervising faculty will be the second author.

Abstract should not exceed 300 words. Specify key words (3-5 only). Should be typed in M.S. Word, Times New Roman, 12 font, with one line spacing. The title should be in CAPITALS, bold and followed by name and addresses of author(s).

Abstract should clearly specify the methodology adopted and the major findings/ outcome of the study. Kindly avoid quotes and references in abstract. Preferably written in own words. The entire abstract should be in a single paragraph, without any further subheadings. It is mandatory that at least one of the authors should be a life member of HSAI. It is also mandatory that all the authors should have membership in HSAI. A life member can author/ coauthor a maximum of two papers only.

Should be typed in M.S. Word, Times New Roman, 12 font, with one line spacing. The title should be in CAPITALS, bold, followed by name and addresses of the author(s). No need to repeat the abstract. It should be followed by introduction, aims/objectives, relevance of the study, Methodology, Result, Summary and conclusion, Bibliography. Plagiarism check should be made by the authors and should submit a report of the same. All student research papers and PhD papers (including the faculty members ‘ PhD works) should accompany a permission letter from the concerned Research Supervisors. The full paper should not exceed 5000 words including bibliography, table and figures and word limits should be strictly followed. The email id of the corresponding author should be clearly specified in the paper. Only research papers that follow all the criteria of the Conference committee will be considered for the Oral presentation.

The papers should not be published or presented elsewhere/ under publication. The decision of the Scientific Committee shall be final and no further communication regarding the same is entertained. Due acknowledgements, details of funding sources, if any should be clearly mentioned in the full paper. Those papers that can be considered in the second level shall be short listed for Poster presentation. Posters should be submitted in the size 18” X 24”. It should be self explanatory, including all the relevant headings. The name and affiliation of the authors should be avoided in the posters and should be replaced by a paper code issued by the respective Scientific Committee. Registering for the conference will not guarantee acceptance of the paper for presentation. However, paper selection will be purely on the basis of its quality and originality. The committee follows a strict “Zero tolerance on Plagiarism” policy and no recommendations are entertained in this regard.

The applications for these awards has to be forwarded to the following authorities on or before 31st of August 2022. The HSAI Executive members will be the selecting committee for finalizing the awardees.

REGISTRATION

Registration is a pre requisite and mandatory element for the participation in the Biennial conference. Registration for the conference will be closed on 31st August 2022 at 11 pm. No further extension will be entertained for the extension in this regard. All those interested to participate are requested to do an online registration with sufficient proof of payment. No On the Spot registration will be entertained.
